Acceptance of Homosexuality -- Human Rights

We should also acknowledge homosexuals’ human right as homosexuals individuals are also came out from a mother womb as the others. Every parts of the world fights for human rights, for instances, black people fight for equality, Nelson Mandela who successfully break the barrier between blacks and whites and united all of them. There are also people around the world who fight for the equality of homosexuals, because homosexuals Individuals are discriminated by National Laws. Homosexual acts are banned in most Asian country such as Iran, Nigeria, Malaysia, Jamaica, Iraq, Singapore and etc. Punishment such as death penalty, prison life sentences, caning would be given to individuals who are verified as a homosexual individuals.  For example, In Singapore, national law, section 377a of the penal code states that “Any male person who, in public or private, commits, or abets the commission of, or procures or attempts to procure the commission by any male person of, any act of gross indecency with another male person, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 2 years.” This law eventually lead to a several other effects to homosexuals individuals in Singapore because they  are also not possible to get benefits, such as medical benefits – for your dependents (e.g. husband or children) from company. In certain company, they may lose the chance and opportunity to obtain the chances of increment in pay or promote. In term of housing, same-sex couples who wished to finance their property jointly could only do so if they were both unmarried Singapore citizens, 35 years of age or above and purchased a Housing & Development Board (HDB) or public housing flat from the open market while for married couples in Singapore, they are allowed to buy the house once they are married. In certain companies, they may lose the chance and opportunity to obtain the chances of increment in pay or promote.

Human hates to be discriminated, a fat people doesn’t like being called a fatty, a short people doesn’t like being called a shorty, and a black people doesn’t like being called a blacky and the same applies to homosexuals individuals. In this 20th century, in most Asian country, homosexual individuals are being discriminated badly by the society. According to statistics, 92% of LGBT youth say they hear negative messages about being LGBT, and most of them are being teased badly. In addition, most LGBT students are being bullied and harass in school. This phenomenon may cause a high level of pressure and stress to the individual and sometimes it can even traumatise the individuals. Research also indicates that persistent bullying can lead to or worsen feelings of isolation, rejection, exclusion and despair, as well as to depression and anxiety, which can contribute to suicidal behavior. Besides that, some LGBT children also faces a great rejection from their family when they are coming out to their family. Half of gay males experiences a negative parental reaction and approximate 26% of them are being thrown out of the home. Society rejection along with family rejection may eventually cause a high level of loneliness and depression in a teenager. Why should a normal teenagers suffered from these stress and anxiety when they can eventually get a good grade, graduate from a university and contribute to the society?
